Marc – black leather men’s ankle boots with a military-inspired character

Marc is a distinctive men’s ankle boot combining an approximately 16 cm high shaft, full front lacing and a side zip with characteristic metal details and natural Crazy Horse leather.

The high shaft, contrasting brown laces, metal eyelets and hardware, decorative rear lacing and cap-toe seam give the model a recognisable silhouette influenced by military, biker and workwear styling.

Natural Crazy Horse leather

The upper is made entirely from natural Crazy Horse cowhide with a waxed pull-up finish. A characteristic feature of this leather is the way its shade changes where the material bends, rubs and develops through wear.

Lighter marks, local scuffs, creases and small tonal differences are not defects. They are natural characteristics of Crazy Horse leather and mean that individual pairs can vary slightly in surface appearance.

Leather that develops its own character over time

With wear, Crazy Horse leather gradually develops a natural patina. Areas exposed to bending and friction can become lighter or darker, so the surface evolves together with the wearer.

On Marc, this changing leather works especially well with the strong shaft construction, metal details and contrasting brown laces.

Front lacing, side zip and distinctive details

Marc combines full front lacing with a side zip. The laces allow adjustment around the instep and midfoot, while the zip makes the boots easier to put on and take off without fully unlacing the shaft each time.

The decorative lacing at the rear is primarily a styling feature. Together with the metal eyelets and hardware and the clearly defined cap-toe seam, it gives Marc more visual depth and sets it apart from simpler, classic ankle boots.

TR sole with segmented tread

The black sole is made from TR thermoplastic rubber. It has a clearly separated heel and segmented tread at the front and rear, while the centre section remains smooth.

The sole measures approximately 1.7 cm at the front and about 3 cm at the rear. It is attached to the upper using a cemented construction.

Military, biker, workwear and urban styling

Marc works particularly well with straight or slightly tapered jeans, cargo trousers, heavier cotton trousers, T-shirts, overshirts, leather jackets, field jackets and heavier coats.

Black, charcoal, denim, khaki, leather, canvas and wool all complement the military and workwear character of the model. The black upper also makes Marc easy to build into strong everyday urban outfits.

This is not a minimalist or traditionally formal boot. Its appeal comes from its bold construction, contrasting colours, distinctive details and strong visual presence.

Leather interior and standard fit

The lining and the surface of the insole are made from natural pigskin leather. Marc is built on a standard-width last with a standard amount of room through the instep and forefoot.

Marc runs slightly larger than standard sizing. Before choosing a size, measure your foot carefully and compare it with the insole-length size chart.

Natural leather may initially feel slightly firm and will gradually adapt at natural flex and pressure points during wear.

How to care for Crazy Horse leather

Remove dust and dry dirt with a soft brush or a gentle cloth. For light marks, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth locally.

For periodic care, use a small amount of a product intended for Crazy Horse, oiled or waxed leather. Test any product first on an inconspicuous area, as it may darken the leather or alter the intensity of the pull-up effect.

Impregnation can reduce the absorption of moisture and dirt, but does not make the footwear fully waterproof. If the boots become wet, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature away from direct heat sources.

Handmade in Poland

Each pair of Marc boots is handmade in our workshop in Poland using traditional shoemaking methods.

The boots are made after the order is placed. Standard production and preparation time before dispatch is 3–5 business days, excluding carrier transit time.

Who is Marc for?

Marc is for men looking for black leather ankle boots that are not meant to disappear into an outfit. Crazy Horse leather, a high shaft, contrasting laces, side zip, decorative rear lacing and metal details create a distinctive military, biker, workwear and vintage-inspired character.

Fit & sizing
Sizing Runs slightly large

This model runs slightly larger than standard sizing. Before choosing a size, compare the listed insole length with a pair of shoes that fits you well.

Width Standard fit

This model is made on a standard-width last.

This model provides a standard amount of room over the instep.

Toe box Standard toe box

The toe box offers a standard amount of room for the toes.

Natural leather may require a short break-in period

Natural leather may feel slightly firm at first. During the first few days, wear the shoes for shorter periods so the leather can gradually adapt at flex and pressure points. Breaking in will not correct insufficient length or an incorrectly chosen size.

Materials & construction
Upper Full leather upper

Natural cowhide leather

The upper is made entirely from natural cowhide leather. The leather type, surface finish and recommended care profile vary by model.

Leather Crazy Horse leather

Natural bovine grain Crazy Horse leather with a waxed pull-up finish. Its defining characteristics are natural tonal variation and lighter marks that appear as the leather flexes and is worn. The surface has a distinctive, slightly rugged appearance and gradually develops an individual patina.

Lighter marks at flex points, changes in shade, local scuffs and a patina that develops over time are natural characteristics of Crazy Horse leather and its waxed pull-up finish. They are not material defects. The surface evolves with wear, so each pair can gradually develop its own individual appearance.

Lining & insole Leather lining and leather-covered insole

The lining and the top surface of the insole are made from natural pigskin leather. This keeps the foot in direct contact with a natural material and reflects the construction standard of traditionally crafted leather footwear.

Outsole TR sole 1.7/3 cm with segmented tread

Black sole made from TR thermoplastic rubber, with a standard profile and a clearly defined heel. Segmented tread zones are positioned at the forefoot and heel, while the midfoot remains smooth. The sole measures approximately 1.7 cm at the forefoot and 3 cm at the heel. It is used for lace-up boots and leather shoes and is cemented to the upper with technical footwear adhesives.

Care
Before first wear

Before first wear, the footwear can be protected with a product suitable for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. Apply the product to a clean, dry surface according to the manufacturer's instructions. First test it on an inconspicuous area, as even a colourless product may darken the leather or alter the visibility of the characteristic pull-up effect.

Cleaning

Remove dust, sand and dry dirt with a soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. For light soiling, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth only on the affected area. Do not soak the entire leather surface or scrub it aggressively.

Regular care

When the leather begins to look dry, apply a small amount of colourless product intended for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. Apply it in a thin, even layer without over-conditioning. Care may slightly darken the surface and reduce the visibility of lighter marks characteristic of the pull-up effect.

Moisture protection

For protection against everyday moisture, use a product suitable for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. The treatment helps reduce moisture and dirt absorption but does not make the footwear completely waterproof. Avoid prolonged contact between the leather and water.

After getting wet

Blot away surface moisture with a dry, absorbent cloth. Insert clean paper or shoe trees to help the footwear retain its shape. Let the shoes dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators, fireplaces, hairdryers and direct sunlight. Once fully dry, the leather can be protected again with a suitable product if its condition requires it.

What to avoid

Avoid heavily covering coloured polishes, harsh detergents, large amounts of water and intensive scrubbing. Do not use petrol, solvents, acetone, degreasers or technical chemicals. Excessive amounts of grease, oil or wax can significantly darken the leather and alter the characteristic pull-up effect.

Styling
Military-inspired: cargo trousers, denim and field jacket

Leather boots and ankle boots inspired by military aesthetics work naturally with cargo trousers, straight jeans, chinos, overshirts and field jackets. Black, brown, khaki, olive and charcoal pair well with denim, canvas, leather and wool. Simple cuts, heavier fabrics and utilitarian details reinforce the rugged, confident silhouette without turning the outfit into full military styling.

Urban: jeans, T-shirt and lightweight jacket

Urban leather footwear is easy to combine with straight or slightly tapered jeans, chinos, a plain T-shirt, sweatshirt, overshirt and lightweight jacket. It is a versatile base for everyday outfits built around simple cuts and neutral colors. Black, charcoal, navy and brown work well with denim, cotton and natural leather, so the footwear can be styled in both relaxed casual and cleaner city looks.

Workwear: denim, overshirt and heavyweight fabrics

Workwear-inspired leather boots pair naturally with straight jeans, heavyweight cotton trousers, cargo trousers, overshirts, work jackets, chunky sweaters and heavier coats. Denim, canvas, natural leather, wool and textured fabrics reinforce the utilitarian aesthetic and highlight visible construction details. Brown, black, khaki, olive and navy create a natural palette for classic workwear and rugged outfits.

Biker: jeans, leather jacket and heavier layers

Leather boots with a motorcycle-inspired biker character work especially well with straight or slightly tapered jeans, a leather jacket, a simple T-shirt, chunky knitwear and a heavier coat. Black, charcoal, dark denim and natural leather reinforce the strong silhouette and highlight metal and construction details. The result is a confident, masculine everyday look inspired by classic biker style that also works well in more rugged outfits.

FAQ

Najczęściej zadawane pytania o model Marc

How does this style fit?

This style runs slightly large. Before choosing a size, check the insole lengths in the size guide and compare them with the insole length of shoes that fit you well. Do not compare the insole length directly with your foot length, as the insole needs to include the extra room required for a proper fit. If you are between two sizes, the smaller size will usually be the better choice.

Is this style suitable for wide feet?

This style has a standard width, with standard room over the instep and in the forefoot. It is not specifically designed for wide feet. The size guide lists insole lengths and cannot be used to assess the width of the boots. If your feet are noticeably wide, the fit will depend on their individual shape.

Does natural leather need breaking in?

Natural leather may feel slightly firmer at first. With wear, it gradually adapts in areas of flex and pressure. Breaking in will not, however, correct insufficient shoe length or an incorrectly chosen size.

Why does this model have both laces and a side zip?

They serve different purposes. The laces let you fine-tune the fit across the instep and midfoot, while the side zip makes the boots quick to put on and take off without fully unlacing them each time. The combination also shapes the look: the lacing, metal eyelets and zip give the boot a stronger, more distinctive silhouette and reinforce its rugged, masculine character. Instead of looking like a plain, smooth ankle boot, the model has greater visual presence and more personality.

Does Crazy Horse leather change in appearance with wear?

Yes. Lighter marks, creases, local scuffs and a gradually developing patina are natural characteristics of Crazy Horse leather. The material evolves with wear, so each pair develops its own individual character over time.

Are lighter marks and scuffs on the leather a defect?

No. With Crazy Horse leather, changes in shade, lighter marks at flex points and local scuffs are characteristic of its waxed pull-up finish. They are not material defects, but part of the leather’s natural appearance.

How should Crazy Horse leather be cared for?

Dust and dry dirt are best removed with a soft brush or cloth. For light marks, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth on the affected area. For periodic care, use products intended for Crazy Horse, oiled or waxed leather. Always test the product first on a less visible area.

Is Crazy Horse leather waterproof?

No. Crazy Horse leather is not fully waterproof. Proper impregnation can reduce the absorption of moisture and dirt, but it does not make the footwear waterproof. Avoid prolonged soaking and never dry the boots directly next to a radiator or other heat source.

How is the sole with segmented tread constructed?

The sole is made from TR, a thermoplastic rubber. It has a clearly defined heel and segmented tread in the forefoot and heel areas, while the middle section remains smooth. The sole is approximately 1.7 cm thick at the front and about 3 cm high at the rear. It is bonded to the upper.

Is the inside of the boots made from natural leather?

Yes. The lining and the surface of the insole are made from natural leather, in accordance with this model’s material specification.

Are the boots handcrafted in Poland?

Yes. Every pair is handcrafted in our workshop in Poland using traditional shoemaking methods.

How long does it take to prepare the shoes for dispatch?

Each pair is handcrafted after the order is placed. Standard production and preparation time before dispatch is 3–5 business days. This does not include the carrier’s delivery time.

Is this model suitable for everyday wear?

Yes. This model is also designed for regular everyday wear. Its versatile shape works well with jeans, chinos and other casual outfits. The exact styling options depend on the design and construction details of the individual model.

Can the color of Crazy Horse leather vary from pair to pair?

Yes. Natural Crazy Horse leather and its waxed pull-up finish mean that individual sections of leather and finished pairs may vary slightly in shade, color intensity, and the visibility of the pull-up effect. These variations are a natural characteristic of the material and give each pair an individual appearance.

What is the purpose of the additional lacing at the back of the shaft?

The additional lacing at the back of the shaft is primarily a stylistic feature. It breaks up the clean line of the high shaft, adds visual depth and gives the boot a distinctive look from the side and rear as well. Combined with the metal details, it is one of the elements that gives the model a more expressive and individual character.
