York – black leather Chelsea boots with elastic side panels

York are black men's Chelsea boots with a clean, classic silhouette and a pronounced treaded outsole. The smooth upper, rounded toe and elastic side panels create a model that is easy to put on and works well with everyday as well as more polished smart casual outfits.

Crazy Horse leather with a waxed pull-up finish

The main part of the approximately 13 cm high upper is made from natural Crazy Horse cowhide leather. Its waxed pull-up finish can develop lighter marks, local changes in shade and subtle scuffing as the leather flexes and is worn.

Over time, the surface develops a natural patina. The intensity of these changes depends on the individual piece of leather, wear and care. They are not a material defect but a characteristic of Crazy Horse leather.

Slip-on design with elastic side panels

York is a slip-on model. Elastic panels on both sides of the upper make the boots easier to put on and take off, while remaining a defining detail of classic Chelsea boots.

The absence of laces keeps the design clean and streamlined. The upper reaches slightly above the ankle and covers it during everyday wear.

TR outsole with multidirectional tread

The black outsole is made from TR, or thermoplastic rubber. Its pronounced multidirectional tread gives the model a more practical and distinctive character.

The outsole is approximately 1.5 cm thick at the forefoot and approximately 3 cm high at the rear. It is cemented to the upper.

Leather interior and sizing

The lining and the top layer of the insole are made from natural pig leather. The model has a standard width, standard instep room and standard space in the forefoot. It is not designed specifically for wide feet.

York runs slightly large. Before choosing a size, check the insole lengths in the size guide and compare them with the insole of shoes that fit you well. Do not compare the insole length directly with your foot length. If you are between two sizes, the smaller size is usually the better choice.

Natural leather can feel slightly stiff at first and may need a short break-in period. This will not correct insufficient length or an incorrectly chosen size.

How to style York Chelsea boots

York works best with casual, urban and smart casual outfits. Wear them with straight jeans, chinos, heavier cotton trousers or less formal tailored trousers.

A plain T-shirt, overshirt, knitwear, field jacket or wool coat complements the clean shape of the boots. The classic Chelsea form gives the model a polished look, while the pronounced tread makes it primarily an everyday and smart casual boot rather than a slim formal shoe for highly formal occasions.

Care for Crazy Horse leather

Remove dust and dry dirt with a soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. For light soiling, use a well wrung, slightly damp cloth only on the affected area. Do not soak the entire leather surface or scrub it intensely.

For regular care, choose colourless products made for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. Always test a product on a less visible area first, as it can darken the leather or change the appearance of the pull-up finish.

Handmade in Poland

Each pair of York is made by hand in our workshop in Poland after you place your order, using traditional shoemaking methods. Production and preparation for dispatch usually take 3 to 5 business days. Delivery time is added separately.

Materials & construction
Upper Full leather upper

Natural cowhide leather

The upper is made entirely from natural cowhide leather. The leather type, surface finish and recommended care profile vary by model.

Leather Crazy Horse leather

Natural bovine grain Crazy Horse leather with a waxed pull-up finish. Its defining characteristics are natural tonal variation and lighter marks that appear as the leather flexes and is worn. The surface has a distinctive, slightly rugged appearance and gradually develops an individual patina.

Lighter marks at flex points, changes in shade, local scuffs and a patina that develops over time are natural characteristics of Crazy Horse leather and its waxed pull-up finish. They are not material defects. The surface evolves with wear, so each pair can gradually develop its own individual appearance.

Lining & insole Leather lining and leather-covered insole

The lining and the top surface of the insole are made from natural pigskin leather. This keeps the foot in direct contact with a natural material and reflects the construction standard of traditionally crafted leather footwear.

Outsole TR sole 1.5/3 cm with multidirectional tread

Black outsole made from TR (thermoplastic rubber), with a standard profile and a pronounced multidirectional tread. The outsole is approximately 1.5 cm thick at the forefoot and approximately 3 cm high at the heel. This type of outsole is used primarily on ankle boots and motorcycle- or military-style footwear. It is also used on selected low-cut shoe designs. The outsole is cemented to the upper using technical footwear adhesives after the bonding surfaces have been properly prepared and the correct pressure applied.

Care
Before first wear

Before first wear, the footwear can be protected with a product suitable for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. Apply the product to a clean, dry surface according to the manufacturer's instructions. First test it on an inconspicuous area, as even a colourless product may darken the leather or alter the visibility of the characteristic pull-up effect.

Cleaning

Remove dust, sand and dry dirt with a soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. For light soiling, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth only on the affected area. Do not soak the entire leather surface or scrub it aggressively.

Regular care

When the leather begins to look dry, apply a small amount of colourless product intended for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. Apply it in a thin, even layer without over-conditioning. Care may slightly darken the surface and reduce the visibility of lighter marks characteristic of the pull-up effect.

Moisture protection

For protection against everyday moisture, use a product suitable for Crazy Horse, waxed or oiled leather. The treatment helps reduce moisture and dirt absorption but does not make the footwear completely waterproof. Avoid prolonged contact between the leather and water.

After getting wet

Blot away surface moisture with a dry, absorbent cloth. Insert clean paper or shoe trees to help the footwear retain its shape. Let the shoes dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators, fireplaces, hairdryers and direct sunlight. Once fully dry, the leather can be protected again with a suitable product if its condition requires it.

What to avoid

Avoid heavily covering coloured polishes, harsh detergents, large amounts of water and intensive scrubbing. Do not use petrol, solvents, acetone, degreasers or technical chemicals. Excessive amounts of grease, oil or wax can significantly darken the leather and alter the characteristic pull-up effect.

Styling
Smart casual: chinos, blazer and coat

Leather shoes, Chelsea boots and ankle boots with a classic silhouette work well with chinos, tailored trousers and clean straight-leg jeans without heavy distressing. A shirt, knit sweater, blazer or classic coat creates a polished smart-casual outfit suitable for work, meetings, dinner and less formal occasions. Black, brown, navy, grey and beige form a versatile palette that works well with wool, cotton and natural leather.

Urban: jeans, T-shirt and lightweight jacket

Urban leather footwear is easy to combine with straight or slightly tapered jeans, chinos, a plain T-shirt, sweatshirt, overshirt and lightweight jacket. It is a versatile base for everyday outfits built around simple cuts and neutral colors. Black, charcoal, navy and brown work well with denim, cotton and natural leather, so the footwear can be styled in both relaxed casual and cleaner city looks.

FAQ

Najczęściej zadawane pytania o model York

How does this style fit?

This style runs slightly large. Before choosing a size, check the insole lengths in the size guide and compare them with the insole length of shoes that fit you well. Do not compare the insole length directly with your foot length, as the insole needs to include the extra room required for a proper fit. If you are between two sizes, the smaller size will usually be the better choice.

Is this style suitable for wide feet?

This style has a standard width, with standard room over the instep and in the forefoot. It is not specifically designed for wide feet. The size guide lists insole lengths and cannot be used to assess the width of the boots. If your feet are noticeably wide, the fit will depend on their individual shape.

Does natural leather need breaking in?

Natural leather may feel slightly firmer at first. With wear, it gradually adapts in areas of flex and pressure. Breaking in will not, however, correct insufficient shoe length or an incorrectly chosen size.

Are lighter marks and scuffs on the leather a defect?

No. With Crazy Horse leather, changes in shade, lighter marks at flex points and local scuffs are characteristic of its waxed pull-up finish. They are not material defects, but part of the leather’s natural appearance.

Does Crazy Horse leather change in appearance with wear?

Yes. Lighter marks, creases, local scuffs and a gradually developing patina are natural characteristics of Crazy Horse leather. The material evolves with wear, so each pair develops its own individual character over time.

Can the color of Crazy Horse leather vary from pair to pair?

Yes. Natural Crazy Horse leather and its waxed pull-up finish mean that individual sections of leather and finished pairs may vary slightly in shade, color intensity, and the visibility of the pull-up effect. These variations are a natural characteristic of the material and give each pair an individual appearance.

How should Crazy Horse leather be cared for?

Dust and dry dirt are best removed with a soft brush or cloth. For light marks, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth on the affected area. For periodic care, use products intended for Crazy Horse, oiled or waxed leather. Always test the product first on a less visible area.

Is Crazy Horse leather waterproof?

No. Crazy Horse leather is not fully waterproof. Proper impregnation can reduce the absorption of moisture and dirt, but it does not make the footwear waterproof. Avoid prolonged soaking and never dry the boots directly next to a radiator or other heat source.

How is the sole with multidirectional tread constructed?

The sole is made from TR, or thermoplastic rubber. It has a pronounced multidirectional tread. The sole is approximately 1.5 cm thick at the front and about 3 cm high at the rear. The sole is bonded to the upper.

Is the inside of the boots made from natural leather?

Yes. The lining and the surface of the insole are made from natural leather, in accordance with this model’s material specification.

Is this model suitable for everyday wear and smart-casual outfits?

Yes. It can be paired with straight-leg jeans, chinos and trousers, as well as shirts, sweaters, blazers or coats. The exact level of formality depends on the shape, sole and details of the specific version. Models with a pronounced tread are best considered smart-casual footwear rather than classic, sleek dress shoes.

Are the boots handcrafted in Poland?

Yes. Every pair is handcrafted in our workshop in Poland using traditional shoemaking methods.

How long does it take to prepare the shoes for dispatch?

Each pair is handcrafted after the order is placed. Standard production and preparation time before dispatch is 3–5 business days. This does not include the carrier’s delivery time.

Do elastic side panels make the boots easier to put on?

Yes. Elastic panels on both sides of the shaft allow the boots to be put on and taken off without lacing. They are a defining feature of Chelsea boots and make everyday wear easier. They do not replace choosing the right size. Fit still depends on foot length, width and instep height.

Is this model suitable for formal outfits?

That depends on the shape, outsole and details of the specific model. A clean, slim profile, smooth upper and subtle outsole can work with more formal looks. A pronounced tread, metal hardware, straps, bold stitching or a western or biker style point instead toward casual, urban or smart casual outfits. Check the description and photos of the specific variant before choosing.
