Classic Black – timeless design without unnecessary details

Classic is a black leather lace-up boot for men who prefer clean lines, balanced proportions and craftsmanship that becomes more apparent up close. A streamlined ankle-high upper, traditional lacing, defined toe stitching and an uncluttered silhouette create a timeless design that sits naturally between casual and smart-casual footwear.

The defining feature of the boot is its hand-finished Crust leather. Rather than relying on a completely uniform factory finish, the colour is built up and refined by hand, before the surface is brushed and polished. This gives the black leather greater visual depth and allows subtle differences in tone and sheen to become part of its character.

Clean design that puts craftsmanship first

Classic does not rely on buckles, zips or prominent metal hardware to create its identity. Instead, the focus is on proportion, stitching, the hand-finished leather surface and the contrast between the black upper and the more defined line of the sole. The result is understated without becoming anonymous.

The stitched toe helps structure the front of the boot, while its slightly elongated shape gives it a more refined appearance than heavier utility footwear. That makes Classic equally at home in relaxed everyday outfits and in situations where ordinary casual shoes may feel too informal.

From denim to smart casual

Classic pairs naturally with straight-leg jeans, chinos, tailored trousers, shirts, knitwear, blazers and wool coats. Black works particularly well with navy, grey, beige and other restrained colours, making the boot easy to integrate into both everyday and more polished wardrobes.

Versatility is one of its strongest qualities. With denim it remains a classic men's leather boot, while chinos, a shirt or a structured coat move it comfortably towards smart-casual dressing without turning it into formal footwear.

Hand finishing makes every pair slightly individual

Small differences in colour intensity and subtle tonal transitions can occur naturally as a result of hand dyeing and layered finishing. With wear, the leather may also gradually develop its own patina. Rather than remaining visually identical to the day it was made, natural leather can become increasingly individual over time.

Every pair is handcrafted in our workshop in Poland using traditional shoemaking techniques. In a design this restrained, the leather, proportions and quality of the finishing are not secondary details – they are the core of the boot.

Who is Classic for?

For men looking for black leather lace-up boots with a timeless and versatile shape that can work equally well with denim and more polished outfits. Classic relies on proportion, genuine leather and hand finishing rather than decorative elements.

Fit & sizing
Sizing Runs slightly large

This model runs slightly larger than standard sizing. Before choosing a size, compare the listed insole length with a pair of shoes that fits you well.

Width Standard fit

This model is made on a standard-width last.

Instep Standard instep volume

This model provides a standard amount of room over the instep.

Toe box Standard toe box

The toe box offers a standard amount of room for the toes.

Natural leather may require a short break-in period

Natural leather may feel slightly firm at first. During the first few days, wear the shoes for shorter periods so the leather can gradually adapt at flex and pressure points. Breaking in will not correct insufficient length or an incorrectly chosen size.

Materials & construction
Upper Full leather upper

Natural cowhide leather

The upper is made entirely from natural cowhide leather. The leather type, surface finish and recommended care profile vary by model.

Leather Hand-finished crust leather

Cowhide crust leather selected for hand dyeing and multi-stage finishing. This process creates deep, layered colour and richer tonal transitions than a uniform factory-applied finish.

Differences in colour intensity, tonal transitions and subtle variations in the finish are part of the hand-finishing process. The leather may gradually develop an individual patina.

Lining & insole Leather lining and leather-covered insole

The lining and the top surface of the insole are made from natural pigskin leather. This keeps the foot in direct contact with a natural material and reflects the construction standard of traditionally crafted leather footwear.

Outsole TR sole 1.7/3 cm with segmented tread

Black sole made from TR thermoplastic rubber, with a standard profile and a clearly defined heel. Segmented tread zones are positioned at the forefoot and heel, while the midfoot remains smooth. The sole measures approximately 1.7 cm at the forefoot and 3 cm at the heel. It is used for lace-up boots and leather shoes and is cemented to the upper with technical footwear adhesives.

Care
Before first wear

Apply a gentle protector suitable for natural and hand-finished smooth leather. Test the product on a hidden area first. Even a colourless spray or cream may darken the leather, alter its sheen or reduce the contrast created by the layered finish.

Cleaning

Remove dust and dry dirt with a soft brush or a clean, dry cloth. Clean gently and avoid repeatedly rubbing one area. Where necessary, use a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth locally. Do not soak the entire upper.

Regular care

Use a small amount of neutral conditioner formulated for delicate natural leather. Apply a very thin layer without intensive rubbing. Condition only when the leather begins to feel dry, as excessive cream can flatten the layered colour effect.

Moisture protection

Use a light spray protector suitable for natural and hand-finished leather. Apply it only to clean, completely dry footwear. The treatment helps reduce moisture and dirt absorption but does not protect the leather against prolonged soaking.

After getting wet

Blot away moisture with a dry, absorbent cloth. Avoid rubbing the leather while wet, as the finish may be more vulnerable to changes in colour. Insert shoe trees or clean paper and allow the shoes to dry naturally at room temperature. Check the colour after drying before applying any conditioning product.

What to avoid

Avoid strongly pigmented polish, harsh detergents, heavy greasy products, excessive water and aggressive polishing. Do not use petrol, solvents, acetone, technical alcohol or workshop chemicals. An unsuitable product can permanently alter the hand-applied colour and finish.

Styling
Smart casual: chinos, a blazer and an overcoat

Leather shoes, Chelsea boots and refined ankle boots pair well with chinos, tailored trousers, clean dark jeans, a shirt, knitwear, a blazer and an overcoat. This profile works for the office, meetings, dinner and less formal occasions.

Minimalist: jeans, chinos and clean outfits

Minimalist leather footwear pairs well with straight jeans, chinos, plain T-shirts, simple shirts, fine knitwear and clean-lined overcoats. It works best in restrained outfits without excessive patterns, contrast or decorative detailing.

Urban: jeans, a T-shirt and a lightweight jacket

Urban leather footwear pairs well with straight or tapered jeans, chinos, a plain T-shirt, sweatshirt, overshirt and lightweight jacket. The profile suits practical everyday outfits built around comfort, simple silhouettes and distinctive footwear.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the Classic Model

Are the boots handcrafted in Poland?

Yes. Every pair is handcrafted in our workshop in Poland using traditional shoemaking methods.

How does this model fit?

This model fits slightly larger than standard sizing. When choosing a size, use the insole length shown in the size guide and measure your foot carefully. If you are between two sizes, the smaller size will usually be the better choice.

Does natural leather need breaking in?

Natural leather may feel slightly firmer at first. With wear, it gradually adapts in areas of flex and pressure. Breaking in will not, however, correct insufficient shoe length or an incorrectly chosen size.

Is the inside of the boots made from natural leather?

Yes. The lining and the surface of the insole are made from natural leather, in accordance with this model’s material specification.

Is this model suitable for wide feet?

This model is made on a standard-width last and provides a standard amount of room around the instep and forefoot. If you have distinctly wide feet, we recommend comparing your foot measurements carefully with the size guide and taking your individual foot shape into account.

How should hand-finished Crust leather be cared for?

Remove dust and dry dirt with a soft brush or a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, gently spot-clean the leather with a slightly damp, well-wrung cloth. Use mild care products suitable for natural leather and hand-finished smooth leather. Always test any product on an inconspicuous area first, as it may alter the leather’s colour or sheen.

Are variations in the leather’s shade a defect?

No. With hand-dyed, layered hand-finished leather, slight differences in colour intensity, tonal transitions and subtle variations in the finish are a natural result of the manual process. Individual pairs may therefore vary slightly in appearance.

Does hand-finished leather change with wear?

Yes. Natural leather can gradually develop a patina with wear, and areas exposed to bending and friction may subtly change shade over time. This is a natural part of how genuine leather ages and develops character.

Is this type of leather waterproof?

No. A suitable protective treatment can reduce the absorption of moisture and dirt, but it does not make the leather fully waterproof. Hand-finished leather should not be soaked for prolonged periods or rubbed hard while wet. If the boots get wet, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources.

How is the sole with segmented tread constructed?

The sole is made from TR, a thermoplastic rubber. It has a clearly defined heel and segmented tread in the forefoot and heel areas, while the middle section remains smooth. The sole is approximately 1.7 cm thick at the front and about 3 cm high at the rear. It is bonded to the upper.

Is this model suitable for everyday wear?

Yes. This model is also designed for regular everyday wear. Its versatile shape works well with jeans, chinos and other casual outfits. The exact styling options depend on the design and construction details of the individual model.
